Some
artists and songwriters know exactly what they want and how their recording
should sound and feel completed, while others are looking for assistance in
achieving their creative goals. We have lots of experience working with both,
and can assist you in completing your recording projects.
Arrangements & Production:
Sometimes
a song stands alone perfectly with a single guitar, and sometimes it cries out
for other
instruments and voices to enhance the message and carry it to it's full
potential. This is where arrangement and production come in, to help the artist
enhance the natural spirit of their music. Some producers have a definite style
and the end result sounds a lot like the producer; we believe in adding only
what enhances the song and that the end result should be transparent, allowing
the artist and their message to shine through.
We offer the following:
Rhythm section: Bass guitar or stand-up "dog house"
bass, drum arrangements in any style, percussion
Melodic fills: Whether lead melodies or
background colors, the right touch at the right time can make a song come to
life. We do acoustic & electric guitar, keyboards & synthesizers, including
subtle or dramatic string arrangements, organ, sound washes, pads and special
effects. Expert at lifelike instrument emulations; if you can imagine it, we can
probably make it happen.
Vocal harmony: There are some very talented
vocalists in the region who have a gift for blending and stacking great
harmonies. We always try to find the right voice for each song. Sometimes you
write a song and realize it calls for a different voice; we'll help you find the
right one.
Sound effects: Sometimes an artist envisions an
aural landscape or cinematic feel to a song, and thats where sound effects come
in, to add the illusion of a place or time to the recording. It's called
psycho-acoustic effects, and can be very powerful in just the right time and
place. Wind, rain, surf, traffic, applause, psychadelic tape loops; the
possibilities are endless. You name it, and we'll find it, and figure a creative
way to add it to the mix.
Optional music: There is a huge community of
diversely talented musicians of all types in the Asheville and western North
Carolina region, from classical to folk and in between. We know a good many of
these musicians and can usually find the right instrumentalists to enhance most
musical styles.
The bottom line is, we try to serve the true feeling of the music and the
artists behind the music.
